Informative tool

In the digital age, access to accurate and timely information is just a click away- and that's where informative tools come in. Informative tools are ICT resources that help users gather, process and present information effectively . These tools play a vital role in both teaching and learning by providing rich content, data and resources that supports understanding and decision making.

I’ve learned that informative tools are one of the most powerful supports in an academic journey. These tools give me quick and easy access to knowledge anytime and anywhere. In Bhutan, many of us commonly use platforms like YouTube, Google Search, Wikipedia, and even educational Facebook pages to understand our lessons better.

YouTube has become my go-to learning tool. Whether it’s understanding child psychology or watching sample lesson plans in action, I can always find a helpful video. Once, while preparing a reflection on learning styles, I watched a short animated video on YouTube that compared visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. It was simple and easy to understand, and it helped me see how I could apply this knowledge in a real classroom someday.

Another tool I use often is Google Search. It sounds basic, but it’s very powerful when used the right way. Whenever I come across a difficult term in class or an unfamiliar teaching theory, I simply search it. Most of the time, I land on pages like Wikipedia, which gives me a general idea in simple language. I’ve learned to be careful by double-checking facts, but these tools are great for building a foundation of understanding. Interestingly, Facebook has also become an informative space. Facebook has also helped me stay updated with educational news and changes in policies shared by schools or education officers. Sometimes, I even join discussions in the comments section, which helps me hear different opinions and experiences from practicing teachers.

All in all informative tools have helped me become more independent in my learning. They encourage me to ask questions, explore beyond the textbook, and connect my lessons to real-life experiences. Instead of waiting to be taught, I now enjoy discovering things on my own.

As an informative tool, a YouTube video is a powerful medium for delivering content in an engaging and accessible way. For example, a video on Learning Styles helps viewers understand the different ways individuals prefer to learn—such as visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic. Through animations, real-life examples, and expert explanations, the video simplifies complex concepts and caters to various learners. This tool is especially effective in classrooms or workshops, as it captures attention, enhances understanding, and supports different learning preferences.

Google Search is one of the most versatile and widely used informative tools. It enables users to access a vast array of information quickly, ranging from scholarly articles to videos and interactive content. With just a few keywords, users can explore topics in-depth, clarify doubts, and enhance their knowledge. It supports independent learning, critical thinking, and digital literacy. For example, by searching “states of matter,” learners can instantly access explanations, visuals, and examples to support their understanding of the concept.
